Then. Now. Forever. The K-State Alumni Association is here to serve
Some things have changed since the K-State Alumni Association was formed in 1874.
But at its heart the Association still calls back to its roots of maintaining connections
with alumni and friends to the university.
“For 150 years the Alumni Association has worked to reach, connect and serve its members
and the greater K-State Community,” said Adam Walker ’04, ’09, Association president
and CEO. “The Association has an outstanding legacy of stepping up to meet the needs
and celebrate the university and our alumni. We’re excited to celebrate our Alumni
Association’s 150-year legacy of carrying the banner high for K-Staters everywhere.”
Here are four of the ways we carry out that mission today:
We host events.
Each year the Association sponsors and hosts more than 600 events and activities. These include annual club dinner gatherings across the state of Kansas; K-State watch parties for athletic competitions; pregame activities; signature events like the Wabash CannonBall galas, North Texas Boots & BBQ, Wichita Wine Tasting and Dinner; among many others.
We provide for the next generation.
Each year the Alumni Association awards approximately $650,000 in scholarships and student recognition. In 2023 the Alumni Association awarded 500 scholarships, including the Legacy scholarships, Wabash CannonBall scholarships and alumni club scholarships, among others.
We are the keepers of tradition.
From the Wabash Cannonball to the Wildcat hand sign to the color purple, K-State has a plethora of rich traditions. The Alumni Association actively works to keep K-State’s history at the forefront of conversation while looking ahead at what’s to come. We do this in many ways. Our memorabilia collection is one of the largest on display. Our storytelling across our channels often highlights the histories and stories of K-State’s past and provides context for the present. When called upon we provide historic context to K-State departments and organizations and help celebrate their histories and successes.

We plan Homecoming.
For more than 100 years K-State has invited alumni and friends back to campus to cheer on the ’Cats. Homecoming is a week-long celebration that provides K-Staters of all kinds opportunities to celebrate the spot they love full well. Since 1991 the Alumni Association has taken the lead planning each year’s celebration.
