K-State students select 2025 Student Ambassadors
Two students have been chosen to represent Kansas State University as the 2025 Student Ambassadors.
Emily Jones, junior in integrative human sciences, Washington, Kansas, and Dalton Simmer, junior in accounting, Hiawatha, Kansas, were announced as the ambassadors Oct. 26 during K-State’s Homecoming football game against the University of Kansas.
Established by the K-State Alumni Association in 1977, the Student Ambassador program elects two students each year to represent the student body at Alumni Association events throughout the state and at university activities.
Simmer and Jones will visit with prospective students and alumni; attend Student Alumni Board meetings and activities; assist with programming on campus such as the Alumni Fellows program, All-University Homecoming Committee and other special events; and assist the President's Office as needed.
They were elected during Homecoming Week by a student vote from a group of six semifinalists. The ambassadors serve a one-year term, and each receives the Kirk Family Student Ambassador Scholarship of $2,500, clothing from Manhattan clothing store Borck Brothers and an official K-State ring from Balfour and the Alumni Association.
Typically, ambassador candidates excel academically and are extensively involved in volunteer and philanthropic activities. Simmer and Jones are role models for these qualities.
Jones is a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority, where she has served as parliamentarian; Student Alumni Board; and Silver Key Honorary. Additionally, she has done volunteer work with Harvesters and Cats Cupboard and missionary work in Guatemala through Youth Religion Education Lead.
“Kansas State has provided me with a unique educational experience that has led to unbelievable growth,” Jones said. “Over the last two years, I have had the opportunity to be involved in impactful organizations that have taught me communication and time management skills, as well as the ability to be intentional and present in everything. The community I have found here is unlike any other, and are people I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
Simmer is a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity, where he has served as vice president of membership and philanthropy director; Student Alumni Board; and the Menard Family Scholars Program in the College of Business Administration.
“The role of Student Ambassador has the unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the ongoing success and well-being of a place that has been a vital part of my life,” Simmer said. “I believe that student representatives play a key role in showing alumni and future students that the core values of K-State remain vibrant on campus and that the K-State family is as strong as ever.”
“Like their predecessors, Dalton and Emily show great K-State pride,” said Alan Fankhauser, associate director of alumni programs and adviser to the Ambassadors. “The Alumni Association is excited to host them at our upcoming events for the year and for our greater Wildcat Community to meet them. They are great examples of the K-State spirit.”
