Winter wonders of Wildcat Land

Posted January 09, 2025

On Jan. 4, 2025, Manhattan, Kansas, received nearly 18 inches of snow. Campus was closed the following Monday and Tuesday. That didn’t stop K-Stater editor Tim Schrag ’12 from trekking onto campus to get some photos of the blizzard on January 5 and 6.

Wildcat Statue

Snow got stuck in the eyes of the Wildcat Statue on the Johnson Terrace at the K-State Alumni Center, giving it an almost life-like quality.

This bench near Anderson Hall caught my eye.

Oldest tree on campus

This honey locust tree is the oldest tree on campus. Planted before K-State purchased the property, it’s more than 150 years old. Just think about the number of snowfalls it has weathered.
