There was plenty to celebrate in Manhattan on the last weekend in September. The weather
was beautiful and sunny. The ’Cats defeated Oklahoma State 42-20 at Bill Snyder Family
Stadium. And the K-State Alumni Association celebrated its 150th anniversary with
a purple pride filled party at the K-State Alumni Center and on the field at World
War I Memorial Stadium.
The event drew Wildcat fans of all ages and included free drinks and snacks; games
and inflatables on the field; food trucks; music from the K-State Marching Band and
In-A-Chord, K-State’s a capella group; special guest speakers K-State President Richard
Linton and K-State basketball coaches Jeff Mittie and Jerome Tang; and more.
“Our alumni staff did an excellent job hosting a fantastic event showcasing and celebrating
150 years of our great Association,” said Adam Walker ’04, ’09, K-State Alumni Association
president and CEO. “They continue to live our mission to reach, connect and serve
all K-Staters. Our alumni, friends and campus partners who joined us that evening
thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our anniversary — thank you!”
A special thank you to our sponsors: Kansas State University Foundation and Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of Kansas. And thank you to the following supporters: Manhattan Brewing
Co., Kansas Department of Transportation; and KC Bier Co.
