Join us for the 2021 Black Alumni Reunion
The K-State Alumni Association is excited to host the 2021 Black Alumni Reunion Oct. 8-9.
The Black Alumni Reunion is a biennial event the K-State Alumni Association has hosted since 1984. This reunion is a weekend filled with fellowship centered around the myriad of experiences within the Black community at K-State.
This year’s event will focus on uplifting Black-owned vendor suppliers, Black locally-owned and Black alumni-owned businesses. The campus and Manhattan community is encouraged to come out and support the businesses at a pop-up market from 3 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 9 outside the Morris Family Multicultural Student Center. The business pop-up market is sponsored by Kansas Lottery.
“A lot has happened since the last reunion in 2019, the global pandemic and social unrest in our country,” said Jessica Elmore, associate director of diversity programs for the Alumni Association. “This year we wanted to highlight the wonderful local Black-owned businesses in the Flint Hills area as well as showcase our alumni who are entrepreneurs. For example, Jenny Dawn Cellars is a K-State graduate who is the first Black woman winemaker and winery owner in Kansas. We have so many talented and successful alumni we wanted to celebrate them during this year’s reunion.”
